The Trusty Boxing Gloves from your rods would not be in effect and allow you to play a another (3rd) Trusty Boxing Gloves from your rods. A player has to "play" a Trusty Boxing Gloves for its effect. Putting a Trusty Boxing Gloves in play is not the same as "playing".
