Purple Anti-Caffeine Deck

Purple Anti-Caffeine Deck
Decklist:

Anti-caffeine purple by Sma4nyDranik

In this article, I want to share my experience playing a purple deck. This build performs exceptionally well against decks that rely on Too Much Caffeine, as well as other archetypes focusing on penguins with high Vibe. At the same time, you can tweak this deck to fit your preferences depending on the current meta.
Core Strategy
Playing a purple deck is like navigating a strategic balance between accumulating resources and avoiding an early loss. The longer the game lasts, the stronger our deck becomes. Two key resources define this deck's strength:
Iced Cards – The more iced cards we have, the higher the Vibe of Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
.
Time and Card Economy – If you’re missing key cards, losing Vibe Checks and cycling through your deck can be beneficial. However, if your opponent is rapidly increasing their score, tying or winning Vibe Checks to slow them down is a viable strategy—especially if you already have key cards in play.
Mulligan Guide
Must-have cards:
Bizmo, PhD Candidate
, Ascending Penguin
, Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
, Penguin Who's OK
, Bashful Swordsman Penguin
, Not a Rod Anymore!
Situational cards:
Popcorn Penguin
, Inspiring Story
, Got 'Em!
, What a Twist!
, Brainy Penguin
Synergies and Key Card Roles
Ascending Penguin
– The core of this deck's engine, allowing us to increase iced cards. Best paired with high Vibe penguins (Bashful Swordsman Penguin
, Ambitious Penguin
, Penguin Who Breaks the Fourth Wall
) before transitioning to Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
. In an ideal scenario, all cards should be iced before using Bizmo, PhD Candidate
for an instant win.
Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
– The defining card of the archetype. Ideally used when you have many rods and Ascending Penguin
, leading to a Bizmo, PhD Candidate
finish. However, in dire situations, using Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
early can provide the strongest Vibe penguin on board. Depending on matchups, you might want to ice more or fewer cards. Experience will help you learn optimal usage.
Bizmo, PhD Candidate
– Keep one copy for the endgame. Additional copies can be used as activators for Action cards or rods. If a Bizmo, PhD Candidate
win isn’t viable, consider icing it or using it for an endgame Vibe Check boost.
Bashful Swordsman Penguin
– A key card with 14 Vibe for only 3 Fish. Use mid-game to boost iced cards or win crucial Vibe Checks against Green Mega Penguin
. It also works defensively by icing high Vibe opponent cards.
Ambitious Penguin
– Versatile; can be used for its high Vibe effect when 15+ cards are iced or recycled with Actions to further ice your own cards.
Penguin Who Breaks the Fourth Wall
– Only playable from ice and requires sacrificing two rods. Useful for rapid self-icing or disrupting opponent strategies.
Not a Rod Anymore!
– Protects Ascending Penguin
from Got 'Em!
and Action cards. It can also provide an extra 2 Vibe boost for a critical Vibe Check.
Got 'Em!
– Counters aggressive opponents, reduces their score, and defends against Daydreaming Penguin
.
What a Twist!
– A must-have against coffee decks. Keep it for key Vibe Checks and use it on your highest Vibe penguin.
Inspiring Story
– Protects key penguins, synergizes with Popcorn Penguin
, and buys time to set up combos.
Popcorn Penguin
– Excellent anti-aggro tool. Combined with Inspiring Story
, it can control the board and ice opponent threats.
Penguin Who's OK
– The strongest early-game card. Losing Vibe Checks with it rewards you by icing two cards.
Brainy Penguin
– Crucial for deck cycling. Prioritize icing Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
, Penguin Who Breaks the Fourth Wall
, and Wut?
.
Wut?
– Essential for winning with Bizmo, PhD Candidate
. Two iced copies significantly accelerate victory.
Study All Night
– Similar to Brainy Penguin
, but requires one purple penguin. Can be used without cards in hand to increase iced cards.
Overwhelm With Knowledge
– Strong draw tool; can be used from hand and then again from ice.
Purple Mega Penguin
– Retrieves key cards from ice, particularly Bizmo, PhD Candidate
or Ascending Penguin
.
Purple Wizard Penguin
– Not crucial but helps play Adventure Squad
.
Adventure Squad
– Solid, but only one copy is used due to other high Vibe penguins.
Potential Substitutions
Pudgy Man Rod
– Works well with Penguin Who Breaks the Fourth Wall
.
Change Perspective
– Good draw, but requires more cheap penguins.
Chase Your Dreams
– Alternative if lacking Brainy Penguin
.
Prosperous Penguin
– Budget alternative with Adventure Squad
synergy.
Cannonball Penguin
– Budget replacement for Bashful Swordsman Penguin
.
Spring Break
– Useful for anti-aggro, requiring low-cost penguins.
Penguin With a Flag
– Budget alternative for Bashful Swordsman Penguin
.
Penguin With Hoops
– Can help with extra draws, synergizing with Penguin Who's OK
.
Matchup Strategies
Against Yellow decks: Use Popcorn Penguin
and Inspiring Story
. Keep Got 'Em!
in hand against Daydreaming Penguin
.
Against Blue decks: Prioritize icing opponent’s cards initially. Watch out for MissPlaceForgetterOfThings
, which disrupts Ascending Penguin
, Bunkus, Who Is the Stars
, and Bizmo, PhD Candidate
. Use Adventure Squad
to ice it.
Against Green/Coffee decks: Stock up on What a Twist!
and high Vibe penguins. If you have 3-4 big Vibe penguins on board, victory is near. Ice Green Mega Penguin
if possible.
Conclusion
The Purple Bunkus-Bizmo deck is a versatile and powerful strategy that can defeat any opponent with the right execution. It takes practice to master, but once you do, it becomes incredibly rewarding. Feel free to experiment and adjust the deck to suit your style and the evolving meta.
